Kopfschlag is an anonymous, web-based collective artwork initiated in 2007 by Primavera De Filippi and Wolfgang Natlacen. Visitors to the site become co-creators: you may draw, erase, write, or rework art on a public shared canvas—a digital “exquisite corpse” where each contribution layers upon the previous.
Every mark becomes part of a diffuse memory, a visual archive accumulating over time, evolving in chaos and continuity alike. Kopfschlag offers no fixed beginning or end. It is not owned; it belongs to no single artist. Rather, it is a mutable repository of collective thought and image, ever shifting through input from its visitors.
At once anarchic and poetic, Kopfschlag weaves our traces of mind into a shared digital palimpsest— where lines erased and lines redrawn become testimony to the passing presence of many. In Kopfschlag, memory, creativity, and connection become inseparable. Each visitor’s gesture is both ephemeral and permanent a fleeting impulse embedded in the communal web.
