I have been invited as a recognized expert in blockchain law and regulation to join the Expert Group on the “Impact of Technology” at the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights of the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante.
The goal of this expert group is to:
- Identify new technologies with potential to impact and help IPR protection
- Define possible use cases
- Carry out studies or launch initiatives to better understand impact
- Raise stakeholder’s knowledge about technological developments with potential to impact IPR protection, positively or negatively
Experts will be expected to:
- Provide input to potential initiatives or projects as well as lessons learnt from any earlier initiatives they participated in or are aware of;
- inform about similar projects being done in the field;
- provide feedback on documents created (e.g. terms of reference of studies, forms, questionnaires);
- input during the course of an initiative (e.g. re collection of data relevant to a study, contacts of relevant multipliers/influencers, how best to tackle an initiative, including best possible means);
- participate actively during the meetings (one or two per year);
- contribute with feedback in written exchanges where requested (not expected to be more than twice per year).
