Blockchain Workshop : Theory & Practice
Organized by CERSA / CNAM —Paris, 21-22 January, 2019
This workshop has convened various scholars and practitioners from different backgrounds and academic fields in order to bring more clarity regarding the current state of affairs and the future directions of blockchain technology.
I had the pleasure to discuss with few of my favorite researchers in the blockchain space working on the issue of governance, in a panel composed of:
- Odysseas Sclavounis / Oxford
- Primavera De Filippi / CERSA
- Jérôme de Tychey / European Blockchain Observatory
I presented the distinction between governance “of” the technology (on-chain) and governance “by” the technology (off-chain) to subsequently discuss the ways in which the former can actually affect the operation of the latter. The panel then moved on to discuss ways in which we could improve transparency and accountability in both on-chain and off-chain governance.
